Florian Sauer is a postdoctoral researcher on Palaeolithic Archaeology at the Institute for Prehistoric Archaeology at the University of Cologne. His research focuses on the spatial analysis of site distributions as well as the analysis of intra site distributions of finds and features. Central to his work is the use of both geoinformation systems and 3D-modelling approaches. These investigations primarily focus on Upper Palaeolithic sites both in Germany (e.g. Bad Kösen) as well as Jordan (Al-Ansab 1). Besides analysing excavation results he also is engaged in developing a digital documentation system for archaeological site documentation.
